Enjoy Nice Food and Drink While Spending Less

Like the nice little food and drink items in life but find that it is just not in your budget? Maybe it’s time to look at how you are spending your money. It’s important to spend wisely and have a budget to keep household costs under control, but it may also be possible to “have your cake and eat it too” on those little spending habits. How does “buy the same but spend less” grab you? Here are some ideas on what I’m talking about:
Bulk buy items like chocolate bars – if you like eating chocolate bars, try buying them bulk (by the box of 24, 36 or 48) at your local warehouse club (like Costco) instead of buying them at the gas station or convenience store. Put the box in your freezer. This can apply to pop, chocolate milk, chips and a host of other snack foods and drinks. Cost savings can be as much as 50%.
Make your own beer, wine or cider – if you enjoy any of these items, it is cheaper to make your own. And it’s fun too! You can also try different flavours, blends and package them into different sizes too. Please drink responsibly. Cost savings can be up to 40%.
Never pay full price for meat items – like a nice steak? Boneless chicken? Pork, seafood or lamb? Look in your local flyers for meat items you like and use your freezer to stock up on sale items. Cost savings can be 40% to 80% or more depending on the sale item.
Don’t forget to use coupons on available sale items to provide further savings. If you apply this mentality to all your food and drink purchases, you will always be financially ahead, never have empty cupboards or an empty fridge.
Good hints Mike. Just because we are try to save money doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice quality.
