Employment Expenses

Many employers in Canada require employees to incur out-of-pocket expenses as part of their daily jobs, and quite often without compensation. Here are some duties that may be involved with your job description:
Use of personal cell phone for business purposes
Driving your personal vehicle, sometimes great distances, to meet clients
Incur travel expenses such as meals and lodging
Operate part of your job from your home
Incur incidental expenses such as office supplies or promotional materials
Purchase new tools such as a mechanic or a tradesperson
If this occurs in your job, you could qualify for your employer to sign a form T2200 – Declaration of Conditions of Employment. Your employer would check yes to the necessary fields to allow you to claim back on your personal tax return the costs you incurred at work as an eligible taxable deduction.
Once you receive a signed T2200, then you can claim your expenses on a form T777 in your tax return. The eligible expenses reduce your taxable commission or employment income therefore lowering your taxes overall.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you were able to “write-off” your expenses? Check with your employer to see if you qualify!

I am looking for an independent financial advisor who can help me with my personal finances not any business ones. I have run up some debts on some credit cards and a loan and need some good independent advice on the best way to help manage this and pay off the debt as it is getting out of hand. . . I have already been to the citizen?s advice bureau who to be honest were very nice but not very helpful. I don’t want to go to my bank as they will just try to sell me something I probably don’t want. . . What I do want is to sit down with someone and go through all my personal finance and to then help me draw out a plan and give me some good advice as I’m not very good at these things. I do not mind paying a fee to the financial advisor to help me. I have tried looking up for an advisor on the internet but all that comes up is stuff about mortgages and business stuff. . I live in Buckinghamshire so someone in and around that area or even London would be good to get in contact with.. . Any information would be greatly appreciated.. . Thanks. . ASH.
Never considered it that way.
